Here’s the first real post on this blog. It looks like HRT – or Hispania – are definitely looking to continue racing in 2011. Williams announced today that they’d be supplying the Spanish team with gearboxes.
HRT had the worst start to the 2010 season, but with less retirements than the other new teams (15 to Lotus’s 17 and Virgin’s 16 so far) they have managed to get ahead of Virgin in the constructor’s championship. It’s impossible to say for sure how much each position is worth in the championship, but eleventh is more valuable than twelfth.
There are no announcements yet as to who will be racing for Hispania in 2011. I’d like to see Bruno Senna return, and hope that he can do better in an improved car (although Karun Chandhok will always be my favourite driver).
This weekend will see a lot more announcements by the teams as to what is going on next season. Lotus are expected to officially confirm their use of Renault engines for next year. They are the only other team to have not revealed any drivers for next year.
