GP2 Asia R2 Cancelled

Further to this morning’s post, the GP2 Asia event has in fact been cancelled. I am sure the teams will be glad to get out of Bahrain, because honestly it is just not safe out there. The likelihood of the Bahrain test and races – F1 and GP2 Asia round three – going ahead is slim. So it looks like Melbourne could return to its position as first race of the season for this year. They won’t be able to move the race to another location for the same date because teams have already sent out their race freight to the track.
The Bahrain GP will probably be back in 2012, but this season is looking like returning to last year’s length of 19 races. No records yet. The only surprising thing is that the reason for the length is not caused by missing out the Indian GP. So far, that race seems to be on target to have the track ready by the due date.
