GP3 are enjoying pre-season testing this week at Silverstone, with GP2 heading to the British track next week. Fastest on track yesterday morning was Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas for Lotus ART, with two of MW Arden’s drivers – Lewis Williamson and Simon Trummer – in the top four. Unlike F1, teams are allowed to run all three cars during testing. This is because the cars are standardised. Despite this, you still tend to get the team drivers grouping, though some are more spread out than others.
In the afternoon, new GP3 driver Gabby Chaves for Addax came top, and there were a couple of red flags: one from Manor’s Adrian Quaife-Hobbs, and one from Arden’s Mitch Evans. I’m a bit of an Arden girl because of where I come from, so I hope they do well this season.
Taking the fastest lap for each driver, the best was Chaves’s 1:51.449, and the worst was Ivan Lukashevich’s 1:54.344, which is 2.895s slower.
