Jenson extends McLaren contract

It was announced today that Jenson Button has signed a new multi-year contract with McLaren. This means he will be a McLaren driver until 2013 at least, which will make most British F1 fans very happy. Jenson is a good, clean driver, and this year seems destined to be the first of Lewis Hamilton’s teammates to beat him.
It’s not easy for a team to run two World Championship drivers at the same time, or just two brilliant drivers – one of whom is a world champion – at the same time. McLaren seem to like the tactic, and for once it seems to be working. Jenson and Lewis, perhaps because of their shared nationality, get on, and applaud each other when they win. Whether this will continue when one or other of them has a decent shot at the championship, who knows? (Last year Lewis was the outsider going into the final race) But I hope it will. Good on McLaren.
