Jean-Karl Vernay (FRA) is 25, and Sebastien Buemi (SUI) is 24!

On This Day:
Michael Schumacher (GER) started on pole at the 1999 Japanese Grand Prix, but Mika Hakkinen (FIN) overtook him at the start. Eddie Irvine (GBR) was only able to finish third, and lost the driver’s title to the Finn. However, he and Schumacher were able to secure the constructor’s championship for Ferrari after Mika’s McLaren teammate David Coulthard (GBR) retired from the race.

Luca Filippi (ITA) shone in the GP2 testing yesterday. It continues today with a few driver changes.
Nico Hulkenberg (GER) is likely to be confirmed at Sauber according to Jules Bianchi (FRA), who believes he has a chance of driving for Force India next year.

GP2 testing continues.

Stat of the day:
Tiago Monteiro (POR) who drove for Jordan in 2005, and Heikki Kovalainen (FIN) share the record for the most consecutive finishes from the start of their careers: 16. Monteiro in fact managed 18 finishes out of 19 races, while Kovalainen managed 16 out of 17 in the 2007 season.
