Friday practice for the 1995 Australian Grand Prix, and Mika Hakkinen (FIN) suffered a puncture that caused him to be involved in a deadly accident. The swift response of the medical team saved his life as Professor Sid Watkins performed a trackside tracheotomy on the Finn. The hospital was just 1km away, and Mika went on to win the 1998 and 1999 Formula One world championships, star in Mercedes adverts and make a cameo in the most recent episode of Tooned.
Angry Birds will be sponsoring Lotus again this weekend to celebrate Angry Birds Star Wars. The Finnish company sponsors Kimi Raikkonen (FIN), as well as Heikki Kovalainen’s (FIN) helmet.
Dani Juncadella (ESP), F3 Euro Series/FIA European F3 champion this year, yesterday completed the Ferrari test he received as a reward for his victorious campaign. He won the close championship races from the Ferrari Driver Academy’s Raffaele Marciello (ITA), Pascal Wehrlein (GER) and Felix Rosenqvist (SWE), and also won Masters of F3 at Zandvoort.

Most commonly it has been between the seventh and thirteenth of September. Other Grands Prix, even the ones that have taken place almost every year (such as Britain and Belgium) have varied in the time of year they have taken place.
