On This Day:
Next year the USA Grand Prix is scheduled to take place, and this year it’s the first qualifying session of F1 at COTA!
Sebastian Vettel (GER) headed FP1 at COTA by nearly a second, and did similarly well in FP2 despite being out of the session for a while because of a water leak.
After the second qualifying session at Macau, Antonio Felix da Costa (POR) lost his provisional pole position to Fortec’s Alex Lynn (GBR). Da Costa was relegated to second. F3 Euro winner Dani Juncadella (ITA) will start third while his F3 rival, Felix Rosenqvist (SWE), will start fourth.
Superbike rider Luis Carreira, and touring car racer Philip Yau Wing Choi, have tragically been killed this weekend at the Macau GP.
The FIA are considering introducing a penalty points system into F1 to help reduce driving offences in F1. Different penalties would receive a different number of points, and once a certain number of points is reached, a driver will get an automatic race ban. This is unlikely to be introduced into F1 soon, as the teams will need to agree.
