November 24th 2012

Richie Stanaway, a young and promising driver who won the 2011 German F3 championship, is 21.

On This Day:
Nothing exciting in history. Next year, the 2013 Brazilian Grand Prix. This year, qualifying!

Esteban Gutierrez has been confirmed at Sauber as their second driver alongside Nico Hulkenberg. 2012 Formula Renault 3.5 champion Robin Frijns has been selected as reserve driver.
Charles Pic has been confirmed with a multi-year contract at Caterham, making him the first of Timo Glock’s Marussia teammates to get a contract as a regular driver in F1 outside of that team.
Lewis Hamilton led in both free practice sessions yesterday. In the first session he was 0.009 seconds faster than Sebastian Vettel, and it was a slightly larger margin in the second session.

FP3 and qualifying for the 2012 Brazilian GP.

Stat of the Day:
The last F1 race to feature two Mexicans was the 1968 Mexican Grand Prix, featuring Pedro Rodriguez (the most successful F1 driver to date) and Moises Solana. Solana is the only driver to have used car number 13 in an F1 race (the 1963 Mexican Grand Prix) and he was classified 11th but had engine trouble 8 laps from the end. The next race to feature two Mexicans should be the 2013 Australian Grand Prix. Esteban Gutierrez will be Mexico’s sixth F1 driver.
