On This Day:
The 1959 US Grand Prix took place at Sebring. Bruce McLaren took victory, his first for F1 and the first F1 victory for New Zealand. Championship contenders Tony Brooks, Jack Brabham and Stirling Moss were vying for the title. Brabham ran out of fuel on the final lap and pushed his car across the line to finish fourth, Brooks finished third, and Moss retired with a transmission failure on lap 5. Brabham clinched the title.
James Calado has been signed for the 2013 GP2 season with ART.
Jack Harvey has been signed for the 2013 GP3 season with ART.
Stat of the Day:
Force India managed to get at least one car in the points at 16 of the 20 races in the 2012 season. This is pretty good for a midfield team! Ferrari, McLaren and Lotus managed to get a car in the points at every race, and Red Bull only missed one. The next-best to Force India are Mercedes, with 13 points races. Sauber and Williams had 12 each. Force India might not have managed the same points tally as Sauber or Mercedes, but they are certainly more consistent.
