Countdown to 2013 Formula One season: 64 days

2011 F2 champion Mirko Bortolotti is 23.
2012 Toyota Racing Series runner-up driver Hannes van Asseldonk is 21.
2013 Toyota Racing Series participant Akash Nandy is 16.
Ex-F1 driver Eddie Cheever is 55.
1959 and 1962 Indy 500 winner Rodger Ward was born 92 years ago.

Arden’s 2013 GP3 lineup has been finalised – Red Bull junior drivers Daniil Kvyat and Carlos Sainz, and Romanian Robert Visoiu. They will be strong competitors.
Meanwhile they’re retaining Antonio Felix da Costa at Arden Caterham in the Formula Renault 3.5 season.
Felipe Massa’s charity karting event, the Desafio das Estrelas, will feature a number of Brazilian drivers as well as some familiar faces from F1: Nelson Piquet jr, Bruno Senna, Jaime Alguersuari, Kamui Kobayashi, Sebastien Buemi, Jules Bianchi, Felipe Nasr, Fernando Alonso and Tonio Liuzzi, amongst others. The race will take place this weekend.
Marcos Patronelli continues to dominate the quadbike category at Dakar after day five.
David Casteu won today’s stage for bikes, but Olivier Pain still leads the category.
Joan Roma was fastest in the cars, but Stephane Peterhansel still leads with about 10 minutes over Nasser Al-Attiyah.
Gerard de Rooy is back in the lead in the trucks.

TRS NZ continues. The series is 13 hours ahead of the UK, so by the time tomorrow’s post has gone up, qualifying will be completed.
