Countdown to 2013 Formula One season: 57 days

On This Day:
Farina was on pole, but Fangio won at the 1954 Argentine Grand Prix – his first in a season where he only missed out on victory twice. It was a wet race, and with no time limit the 87 laps took 3 hours to complete.

Emmanuele Zonzini has signed for the Trident GP3 team.
Nigel Melker has left GP2 for FR3.5, joining Tech 1.
Julian Leal has been confirmed at Racing Engineering in GP2 alongside Fabio Leimer.
German racing team Hilmer Motorsport have joined GP2 in place of Ocean Racing.
Ex-HRT driver Pedro de la Rosa has joined Ferrari as a development driver. He is the third Spaniard at the team, alongside Fernando Alonso and fellow test driver Marc Gene.
Ferrari will launch their 2013 car on February 1st.
Steve Neilsen is to leave Caterham and join Toro Rosso as sporting director.
Sebastian Ogier was fastest in Rallye Monte-Carlo SS1, but after that it was dominance from champion Sebastian Loeb, who leads after the first day.
Rain has affected the Dakar Rally once again. The bikes and quads made it through the day with no problem, but due to the rain, the stage was neutralised for cars and trucks. The leaders remain the same in all categories.
