Countdown to 2013 Formula One season: 52 days

Rio Haryanto, GP2 driver with Addax, is 20 today.
Jann Cunha, Formula Renault 3.5 driver with AV Formula, is 22 today.

On This Day:
Mike Hawthorn died in 1959, following a high-speed accident on the A3 just months into his retirement.
Fangio took pole at the 1956 Argentine Grand Prix, but the win was shared between Fangio and Luigi Musso. Fangio’s car had a faulty fuel pump, so he switched to Musso’s car and fought through the field despite spinning to win. It would be Musso’s only victory.

It has been confirmed that Timo Glock and Marussia have parted ways.
Toto Wolff has left Williams to join the management at Mercedes. His wife Suzie Wolf remains a Williams development driver.
Caterham will be launching their 2013 car, the CT03, on the morning of the first day at Jerez. The name CT02 was given to the sports car they have been developing with Renault.

Stat of the Day:
There have only been a few shared victories in F1. The first was 1951, when Fangio and Luigi Fagioli won the French Grand Prix. The second was Musso and Fangio’s shared drive in the 1956 Argentine Grand Prix. The third and final shared victory came at the 1957 British Grand Prix, when an ill Tony Brooks gave his car up to Stirling Moss after Moss’s car had engine issues.
