2nd February 2013

Countdown to 2013 Formula One season: 41

News:
Ferrari and Force India launched their 2013 challengers. Force India’s 2013 reserve driver is James Rossiter, a British driver who finished 3rd in the 2003 Formula Renault UK championship, and also in the 2004 British F3 championship.
Giedo van der Garde has been confirmed at Caterham alongside Charles Pic for 2013. The Dutchman drove for Caterham in 2012, and partnered Pic in the 2011 GP2 season at Addax.
No real surprise as Mitch Evans took a double pole at Hampton Downs in the Toyota Racing Series. Jann Mardenborough and Alex Lynn also put in good qualifying performances.

Launch of Sauber C32 from Hinwil.

Stat of the Day:
F1 is very full of GP2 drivers these days. Three teams currently have a lineup only of GP2 drivers: Caterham, Mercedes and Sauber. Marussia are likely to do the same. Only Ferrari, Red Bull and Toro Rosso have no drivers who competed in the series, and part of that is due to Red Bull’s dislike of GP2 (although test driver Sebastien Buemi was a GP2 driver).
